- While replacing right front axle technician found original axle was not installed properly. Retaining band was loose allowing axle to come out of the transmission. Installed new axle and shimmed retaining band . There is no guarantee that there will be no further issues but we have repaired this to the best of our ability.Technician stated the transmission fluid was overfilled and is very dark in color. The technician drained transmission fluid to the proper level . The technician also checked the transfer case fluid and stated It is very dark in a color. We believe it is safe to assume it was over filled previously but some fluid may have came out when the axle fell out. The transmission and transfer case fluids are at the proper levels at this time but have not bee changed. The technician also checked the engine oil and coolant. The oil was one quart low. Technician added oil and is now at proper level. The technician stated the coolant level was where it should be.
- Technician found the right front axle had came out of transmission. The right front axle needs to be replaced due to damage to the axle shaft. There is no way to tell if there has been internal damage or not. Recommend replacing the right front axle and taking for a test drive.
